Why have a face to face tarot reading?
My answer is so that YOU get involved in the reading. YOU get to respond fully because I always ask, after I’ve read the initial spread, what tarot card resonates most strongly, what is unclear, what is most relevant? And what do you want to know more about? And then we keep exploring by pulling more cards and choosing spreads to give the insight you need.
People often think that having a reading over the internet, might make the reading less accurate, because I pull the cards for you. I have found it makes no difference. What makes the difference is your intention, you being clear about what you want to know and being actively engaged is where the power lies.
You’ll notice whether you are having a tarot reading with me on Zoom zoom or in person in Battersea, I’m invariably looking off into the distance somewhere which is where I seem to access memory and insight rather than looking at your face for clues. Mind you a smile or nod does help me know I’m on the right track.
Its your active involvement that activates more insight about yourself and your situation. Questions that were in the back of your mind, that you’d barely realised were there, let alone given voice to, find their way into the conversation and you understand more and more about what is going on in your life and why and with that gain self-knowledge…which is kind of the point of Tarot.
The 22 tarot cards of the major arcana expressly describe our journey through life, from being the Fool, the first card, where you are a bit of an innocent but have all the lovely enthusiasm for the journey ahead, to the final card The World, when you have a moment when your place in the world and everything around you fits. You are in the centre of yourself, the centre of your world. You are enough, you belong.
My feeling is it’s the conversation that grounds the reading in you and why I your interpretation and ideas. I don’t want you to walk away and a week later remember only the headline….I want you to get specific and discuss ideas about how you might go about things, what exactly are you going to do next, as this all activates the potential shown in the cards and the reading. Your actions and thoughts create your life after all.
When I start the reading, I ask my client not to say anything at all, until I’ve finished what I call ‘a snapshot’ of what’s going on. I don’t want to be influenced by knowing the reason for the reading for example. I just want to read the cards and find their natural fluency and flow. Only after I’ve given the overall reading do I ask my client to jump in. And then I really want to hear from you.
One of our most basic human desires is to be fully seen, heard and received. I want to hear what is really relevant, what you want to know more about, what is at the heart of you having this reading and bring you a clearer picture of the potential available to you to meet your life fully.
I think a tarot reading can be a revelation and leave you feeling more confident and connected to YOU…terrible English I know
