The Ten of Swords as a daily reflection card

The Ten of Swords

The Ten of Swords in Tarot is the minor to the Death card and so therefore perhaps reflects, not such a momentus moment as the END of an era and the beginning of a new, it does nevertheless does speak of death, the death of the Ego.  Which can be painful.

The Ten of Swords, the Death of the eGo for a new dawn

When I see the ten of swords, I think this is a situation when trying to control things with your mind is not going to work, in fact just the opposite, trying to work things out to your advantage will be unsuccessful if you look at the man lying on the ground with ten swords stuck in his back bleeding.  Painful even. Especially if you don’t let go.  Then you will bleed to death.  However the picture of the sun rising again beyond the ten swords does look hopeful. If you let go of control, there is the promise of a new dawn.

I pulled it this morning at the start of a skiing holiday and thought two things, let go of control in the sense of how to behave or worrying about things and trying to control them, after all there are trains and planes to catch, and travelling companions to consider.  It occurred to me rather an auspicious card also in respect of ‘worrying’ about skiing, don’t try to control things, let go.  Of fear, anxiety, trying to be the right person, say the right thing, protecting the ego, let go for a new dawn, new possibility.

When you are going through a ten of swords moment it can be painful, especially if we rail against the situation, or resist what is going on, and fight against it. In some ways receiving the ten of swords as a reflection card gives you permission to let go and see if coming with no agenda just your pure sense of optimism and warmth and friendliness might be enough.  I will keep you posted.

I was also thinking writing a blog on how I read Tarot?  Ten of Swords, let go and have a holiday 

Do come and have a tarot reading with me in Battersea or online via whatsapp or zoom.  Come and having a reading one afternoon next week if you like, when I’ve got back from the slopes after a fabulous day of skiing and fun and laughter  and before I settle into a movie with the girls.
