The Queen of Cups begins this New Year 2023
The first card I’ve pulled for the New Year today, is the Queen of Cups.
Now anyone who has read any of my blogs will know I have an uneasy relationship with the Queen of Cups. She is all about giving unconditional love which is something I’m not very good at. I generally come at the world from a more analytical point of view, properly assessing a situation and deciding on the strategic approach necessary, rather than bringing the energy of unconditional love to the situation.
The Queen of Cups is tender and gentle and giving, she thinks of others, she is the quintessential Mother. She accepts you as you are, and appreciates you just the same, which I am all for.
Perhaps the caring and sharing approach with which the Queen of cups approaches life is good advice for the start of 2023.
Having come from the Chariot, the card in last week’s tarot reading; which so aptly described my feelings toward the impending new Year, a sense of being on a mission but being somewhat torn by opposing desires….made even more clear when I found myself saying to my god daughter the morning after (New Year’s was a lovely evening of friends round a table and a bit of a sing-song) hearing that one of the guests had sold his business for a huge amount of money and was ready to travel and just enjoy life to the full, I’d had a bit of re-think about my New Year’s focus and realised I’d really like a bit of that! A bit of freedom and romance and adventure just for the fun of it. So there you are my chariot in a nutshell.
The advice of the Queen of Cups in a tarot reading acknowledges her need for love and offers hers unconditionally. Perhaps being a bit gentler, a little less self-focussed, a little less driven, a little more appreciative of everyone and life in general would be a good approach to start to the year. She might also be saying relax and smell the roses, another thing I’ve been pondering… how to have more pleasure, more ah ha moments.
Katie Brindle, Qi gong heroine, described putting her feet into a perfect temperature foot bath, not to hot, not too cold ,but just right, and the deliciousness of that moment….so more of those moments please.
I don’t think the Queen of Cups would be busy making New Year’s resolutions, I think her message is also to love yourself unconditionally, give yourself some tender loving care instead of making a list of new year’s resolutions, as they always come from the point of view that there is something wrong with you or your life that you’ve got to change. I think she is saying be kind to yourself, take care of yourself certainly and if that inspires you move toward a resolution or two that is going to help you do that, all good.
It would certainly take the pressure off having to DECIDE right now, this week, any New Year’s resolutions. Having a list of dos and don’ts to be obeyed. And then broken. I’m going to put all that off for a few days and see what happens. Perhaps it will give me a little more clarity and direction.
I did find myself saying to two young girls who came for a tarot reading in battersea on new year’s eve, both very much on a mission for 2023, you are going to include what you most love in your resolutions, and they looked at me curiously, and when I start describing delicious moments of pleasure and enjoyment and fun, small spontaneous moments of joy they said ok yes lets include some of those.
I did notice the birds were singing rather joyously this morning as trumpet and I walked in the dusky park at 7.30 am. So that’s a good start for 2023.
Happy New Year everyone. Take care of yourselves and take things gently and let me know how it goes. And if anyone would like a personal tarot reading for the New Year do visit me in Battersea or via WhatsApp.
