Tarot Reading as Divine Guidance
When we have a tarot reading we expect to receive some insight and guidance about our lives, a situation, a relationship, about whether we are heading in the right direction or how to go about things. We come with questions. Another question we might ask ourselves is to whom or what are we making our petition? The Tarot cards, the tarot reader, or a field of intelligence and information that exists, which in the act and intention of having a tarot reading enables us to connect to a power higher than ourselves, Tarot cards being the bridge by which we interpret and receive Divine Guidance.

For years I have started my morning with a prayer, or invocation, which goes along these lines…
Dear guides, guardian angels and the God Love Source Energy I give intent to be of service …..to love, joy, kindness, creativity, laughter, making the world a happier place, being courageous, you get the gist. It depends on the day in belief is that by asking for grace and divine guidance with an intention to use whatever you are asking for ‘in service’ to the greater good, that I might be a conduit for these qualities during my day for myself and others I come in contact with.

I am conscious of an under note of anxiety and confusion, which may be associated with and these war torn, tragic, sad, chaotic times. Times that leave me feeling my existence is a bit pointless. All I can think to do is to try to consciously hold this space of love, possibility, kindness and peace in my being with the hope that transmitting these qualities is at least some kind of soothing balm and perhaps contributing to strengthening the Field of divine intelligence consciousness wherein we live. More and more I find myself avoiding heated discussions about how wrong and unfair the world is as then I get caught up in frustration, impotence, despair and sorrow and start spreading that energy…I fully admit that it may be a cop out, but it also feels like the only choice and a deliberate choice to be part of a growing band width and contributing to the field of love and possibility.
Last night I couldn’t sleep and tossed and turned in this unknown anxiety. Tonight I’m going to say a prayer. Start with gratitude and then ask for a night of deep sleep so that I wake up feeling nourished and encouraged so that I can be even more present to divine guidance when I give readings tomorrow.

At the start of every tarot reading I light a candle, an act of igniting the light of the Divine. Igniting spirit. The more I read tarot the more awed I am by the answers and insight given when we come to the table and ask. Ask and it shall be given.
As a tarot reader I am becoming more and more aware of the spiritual aspect of being a reader and the responsibility to be a pure conduit. Of course I am always going to be channelling my experiences with the readings, but then again, I think there is something divine happening in the way people choose to have readings with me.
So often I have just read something, or heard something on the radio, and the subject comes up in the tarot reading and seems curiously timely and apt. It’s called synchronicity I believe. Or Magic.
