Tarot for the start of 2024
The best advice I’ve heard so far about welcoming the new Year…
is
Put out an empty jar and at the end of the week pop on a piece of paper one stand out moment, event, experience that makes the cockles of your heart smile, write it so that you you’ll remember it …..that way by the end of the year when you read them all you will have stored hundreds of happy experiences…
Already the moment I got the giggles with Penny when she was being wonderfully rude playful, its hard to describe a kind of girlfriend moment of teasing and making each other laugh, it was really fun! Vince did a lot of teasing also, constantly introducing me to people I knew…..(into the jar) or perhaps I buy a beautiful diary?
I pulled a card just now, the 5 of pentacles, that made me feel distinctly gloomy when I picked it, like the people on the card. Look at them, beggars outside on a cold dark night in the snow, there’s a nice warm light coming from a stained glass window of a church.
Don’t let yourself get left outside in the cold is good five of pentacles advice!
The message that immediately came to mind for me, was don’t get left outside in the cold, don’t get isolated, or to put it more positively, go inside the warm church there’s a congregation there waiting to welcome and include you, where everyone can sing and pray and show their gratitude to life. Alleluia praise the Lord kind of thing! I often say of this card in a tarot reading… ‘find your tribe’.
Typical, 8 of swords like, receiving the 5 of pentacles immediately brought fears of self doubt, oh dear I’m ‘doing life wrong’…..the five of pentacles does also speak of feeling impoverished, a bit short of money, and a bit of a despondent attitude. Why do I respond with such fear to the ‘negative’? the observation of seeing how quickly I can self sabotage an innocent tarot card’s message made me stop in my tracks and admit….. actually, if there was one thing I would like to have different in 2024, the one thing I would like to change over the course of next year is I’d like more kindred spirit friendships in my life. More of a sense of belonging to community, more easy laughing companionship with like minded folk.
And as I write this and step back, am now considering what other card in the tarot deck of 78 might have been as clear and as bold.
The three of cups is the closest I can get. It is all about engaging in life, having fun, connecting, celebrating is of course the positive way of describing friends and fun. However if I had picked it, I would have sat back on my laurels and gone whey hey, fun and friendship and connection and engaging in the world is for me this year.
Instead of which receiving the 5 of pentacles made me admit it is the ONE THING I would like more of in 2024 and that it is going to take some intention and action from me to create it!
I have to walk into the church first! How useful is that advice.
There’s a fascinating 12 card tarot reading for the new year which I am planning to do on myself later today. However I am stunned and very grateful to receive this one card the five of pentacles this morning. Sometimes one card has more power than 12.
