Pulling an Advice Card in a tarot reading

I nearly always pull an advice card in a tarot reading, and often it gives the most invaluable advice.

However I did break out into a smile, when I wasn’t able to resist pulling another card to see what it might add to ‘Moving forward with wisdom and grace’ because it turned out to be the 8 of Pentacles.

The 8 of pentacles is all about honing your craft; the card of perfecting, the card that says practice makes perfect. It made me laugh as it’s not hard to realise ‘moving forward with wisdom and grace’ is going to take practice; daily be a ‘work in progress’.

This morning, I was glad of the reminder from the 8 of pentacles. Life sometimes does seem like hard work and I have an odd relationship with the 8 of pentacles, because on the one hand it is saying, carry on what you are doing, keep on working, and at the same time it has a bit of a weary feeing, the 8 can feel like you are going round in circles and that expression ‘ all work and no play makes a dull dog’ echoes in my mind. Although in Energy Medicine, the figure 8’s are powerful energy patterns essential to good health. You don’t want your energy going in straight lines in Energy Medicine. Weaving 8’s into your aura keeps your energy buzzing. And of course if you turn the 8 sideways it is the symbol of eternity. So Magical stuff happens at the 8 lovel. And I need to remember that!

It’s just that pentacles represent down to earth aspects, practicalities, work, money, society, position.

Still today I am not going to give myself a hard time for being a bit of a dull girl, getting through my list of things to do, the whole morning at my desk, as that’s how you get to the 6 of wands and cross over the river to the other side! Yippee
