Learning how to read The Tarot….

This week the page of pentacles kept appearing in readings.

I realised my understanding of this card was a bit limited and needed broadening.

This young fellow is studying a pentacle, the material world….

All pages are about taking action, a definite step forward, in the case of pentacles, a step forward in matters of learning the practical aspects of life, money, status, career, work. The Page of Pentacles is often described as the student; a student of the world. 

If we take the journey of the Page to the King of this suit, the king of pentacles (more about the King in my blog of last week) at the king level, you are the king of your domain. In pentacles he is someone who understands how the world works, especially how ‘money makes the world go round’ and has has worked hard to achieve wealth, and be able to afford the finer things of life, for his legacy and the long term security of his family.

Pentacles are workers, and with that comes a well developed sense of responsibility and resilience, both invaluable qualities at the Page level when talking about advancing your knowledge and career, when resilience and responsibility to ‘business’ pays off, on your journey to the King.

I had never noticed the quality of resilience needed in the pentacle suit but of course it makes sense, because pentacles are not fuelled by wands (fire and passion), or cups (emotion and love), or necessarily swords (truth and integrity) no to achieve success and wealth in your career ,hard work and resilience are the key ingredients.   (obviously passion, love and integrity all inspire but they dont actually get the work done!) So the page of pentacles is an encouraging card to receive in a tarot reading when you are growing your career, or learning about it.  This card can appear when you are writing your first book or learning any kind of craft that is going to support you financially in the future.

With the page of pentacles there is also an idea of putting yourself at the service of whatever it takes to learn and build on what you have already achieved.

This is a moment for networking in order to meet the right people and study how your business works, and the skills needed.  The resilience aspect comes in because at this level you may need to be patient and accept that you are not ready quite yet for the financial reward you desire. A bit humble even, less in a rush.  So often I find young people think they should be successful at thirty, whereas in my experience, a really successful and satisfying career can takes years to develop. Enjoying the journey and learning curve represented in the page of pentacles makes the challenge more fun.

It may be time to actually study, take a class, find a teacher or mentor who can bring their invaluable knowledge and support.

Still all Pages have a wonderful youthful exuberance and confidence that serves well on this journey.
