How to ‘work’ with Tarot.

I thought I’d just share how I ‘work’ with a  daily reflection card or ‘support’ card as I call it sometimes.  I use the word ‘work’ very loosely….as I think of it more, as ‘how looking at life through the lens of a tarot card can give your day more meaning’.

This example comes from a few weeks ago, and was promised as a follow up to my blog of May 6th after the Coronation weekend. It’s been sitting in my tarot file till this morning.

Having had a lovely quiet bank holiday weekend on the isle of wight, mostly walking on the beach with Trumpet and watching the Coronation.  Tuesday morning I pulled the Chariot.  Quite a dramatic card at first glance, and quite contrary to my mood. A major arcana card with lots of drive and energy. The card shows the charioteer standing up driving his chariot, above him is a canopy covered in stars, a black and white sphynx are sitting in front of the chariot, each facing in slightly opposite directions.

The Chariot as a reflection card for start of a new week….

The two sphynx represent duality, light and dark, unconscious and conscious, often signifying opposite or two different desires.  This charioteer is going to have to drive his chariot with great skill and power to keep two potentially conflicting desires on course.   He’s on a mission (shooting for the stars) in a chariot (a bit fast and furious) as well as having to drive his chariot in the right direction.

Before I looked at the image on the card, I first held it to my heart, to feel its energy.  Part of a practice to develop intuition. It felt warm and nourishing, I guessed the card might be one of the cup suit, as cups represent feelings and emotion. I was surprised to find it was the Chariot.  Challenge.  We sometimes call it the Heroic Quest.

It wasn’t difficult to recognised the duality, half of me wanting to live quietly, peacefully, spending time walking, reading tarot, writing, while the other half on a mission in terms of building my business and getting out and about and having a social life. I do like the fun of socialising. How to do both? is my constant question. How to keep both paths going at the same time?

Because the card had felt warm and nourishing I approached its guidance to me as being kindly, not challenging, more acknowledging the duality of the quest, for many of us, and saying fair enough, it’s not easy but go for it girl.

The charioteer, stands up to drive his chariot, he is confident, he is strong.

So the way I ‘worked’ with the card was to appreciate the need for momentum, courage, boldness plus STAMINA.  And stamina is where I am lacking, especially when I allow myself to get overwhelmed in ‘too much to do’ ‘too little time’ and then don’t know how to relax and be peaceful.  And so the way the Chariot card supported me was to allow me to consider both aspects and see their validity, the duality of life, and ask myself all sorts of interesting questions like……do I have the boldness?

And so what did I do?

I did post a reel on Instagram which I was hesitant about (boldness) as well as enjoyed a day that combined achievement and fun and relaxation (nap at 4pm.)  So just for one day…. encouraged by the Chariot … Thank you Tarot.

Do book a reading with me in Battersea or on line or even on the Isle of Wight. And have a great day. 
