How to create your future with Tarot….
Why I am so passionate about Tarot is not because it predicts the future; it’s because it helps us create the future we desire, there’s a big difference. The idea that a tarot reading predicts an outcome assumes we have no control over our lives. And I’d like to think every thought, deed and act creates our lives rather than life just happens to us.
As a professional tarot reader I always say while there is no doubt Tarot is ingenious the way it gives all sorts of information and insights about the potential ahead, ultimately the power lies in us. It lies in how we act upon the clarity and guidance received in a reading.
The advantage of having a reading can simply be in giving yourself the space and time to consider where we are; time to gather our thoughts and contemplate our choices and opportunities more clearly; choices and opportunities we might not have seen, if we hadn’t sat down and had a reading.
Its having clarity that empowers us because then we feel confident about making the right decisions. Decisions that are right for us. (And the reason I encourage my clients to chip in their interpretations, thoughts and ideas, because I’d like clients to leave with a clear plan of action or an understanding that has put their mind to rest; a fresh perspective and enthusiasm about the direction they are heading.)
Emphasising the prediction side of tarot is the reason people are afraid of having a reading, afraid that they might see or be told something ‘bad’. That they can’t change. Typically people say ‘What if I get the Death card?’, and even though it really means transformation, the image is pretty gruesome, and we humans beings are so easily influenced by images. So for me, the distinction is important. Tarot helps you CREATE your future, helps you be creative, it does not predict it. If you do pull a ‘bad’ card, you can ask enough questions, gain information, advice and insight to avoid said ‘bad’ outcome. And create something different. And anyway who wants to be ‘told’ their future?
I have found Tarot to be a surprisingly practical tool to help us navigate life. Especially when we feel stressed, anxious, don’t know what to do, don’t know how to handle a situation; have a difficult decision to make. These are the moments when having a reading is invaluable.
Never forgetting, we get to choose how we interpret and act on the potential revealed. It is in our every thought and action that we create out future.
