Finding Happiness and Tarot Reading
How often do you allow yourself to relax and feel properly satisfied by life?
In a tarot reading the Nine of Cups is about that. You just have to look at the card to recognise a man who looks very satisfied by life. There he sits, arms crossed and legs akimbo, in stripey trousers with a red hat jauntily set on his head, behind him are nine cups and he looks decidedly pleased with himself.
The Nine of Cups is often seen as a positive and harmonious card in tarot. It represents emotional fulfillment, contentment, and a sense of satisfaction in one's life. It's indeed a card that encourages you to enjoy life's pleasures and take time to please yourself. At the nine level in the cup suits, nearly at the 10, the card describes knowing how make oneself happy, which is a great skill in life I think. There are times in life when we need to be reminded that making ourselves happy and enjoying the pleasures of life is the whole point, or at least a bit part of it! When we get to the 10 level we achieve emotional fulfilment for ourselves and others, happy families.
The Nine of Cups is about making yourself happy with a small caveat, finding balance between enjoyment and indulgence.
The card also carries a subtle warning not to overindulge or become complacent. It's a reminder to find a balance between self-gratification and responsibility, ensuring that you don't become overly self-centered or neglect important aspects of your life.
I pulled this card two days in a row, which did make me laugh as it definitely held both messages, make yourself happy, but don’t overindulge in your love of swimming in the sea and walking along beaches, make sure you take care of your responsibilities. It’s fine balance knowing when enough is enough, enough pleasure and enough responsibility to bring you a real sense of happiness.
