The Journey of the Pentacles

In Tarot, the suit of Pentacles tells the story of how we work with the element of Earth. Matter, energy, money, society, the physical stuff that makes the world go around.

The first coin, first seed we are offered.

Ace of Pentacles.  Brand new opportunity.  A new job, financial opportunity, new position…..a seed has been sown…

2 of pentacles.  Now with 2 pentacles we have choices, options, and we learn how to juggle our resources and perhaps learn time management.  

3 of pentacles.  Now we have three, and able to expand and make tangible plans.  Just as in the depiction of the architect, the builder and the home owner who collaborate on construction plans.   From here we have the beginnings of a stable foundation on which to build further.

4 of pentacles.  Stability. A time to consolidate.  It is not a time to move forward but a moment hold onto what we have.

5 of pentacles.  At the 5 level in Tarot we are often challenged,  the five of pentacles can feeling impoverished, feeling a bit left out in the cold and we are advised to go into the church, metaphorically speaking, and find the warmth and support of congregation, tribe, friends, pick up the phone, find the support we need.

6 of pentacles.  Now we understand that we need to give in order to receive, the nature of reciprocity, of give and take that makes the world go around, the exchange of money, time and energy and finding the balance of being charitable (giving to others) and of investing in ourselves. 

7 of pentacles.  Now we have something to show for our endeavour. invested a considerable amount of effort and and achieved much.  Often however it can be a moment when we wonder whether our endeavours are going to pay off.  The seven of pentacles says this is not the moment to give up it is a time for persistence to keep goin

8 of pentacles.  From the seven we continue with the eight to hone our skills and perfect what we are working on.  Keep up the good work. It may not be exciting but it is necessary and will bring success.

When you receive more than you expected, a lucky bonus..

9 of pentacles.  Now we receive a lucky bonus, and often more than we expected, from our hard work.  We receive extra because we deserve it.

10 of pentacles.  We achieve the financial success and social security for ourselves and others we have been working for, for our legacy, for the generations, our children and grandchildren. And if you are single like me, your respected place in society and security for your old age:-)
