Make yourself Happy with a Tarot Reading.
I want to talk about pleasure and about the art of making yourself happy.
Yesterday I pulled the nine of cups as my daily reflection card. By ‘pulled’ I mean, I shuffled the tarot cards for as long as felt right, then fanned them out in front of me, and with a little prayer to the divine field (for want of of a better world) pulled one card. It then becomes a card of reflection for the day. And generally I pull it after my morning meditation.
When I saw the nine of cups it brought a smile to my face because the only meaning I decided to take was…..its Saturday, you are staying with your beloved god daughter and her beloveds. Family and friends are gathering, today is for fun, pleasure, enjoyment. Indulge.
Conscious of the slight warning with the nine of cups; because although I see making yourself happy, enjoying life and its pleasures a key reason to be alive….it’s also easy to overindulge too! I know. So I added that as a small caveat to approaching the day.
I actually think consciously appreciating the pleasures of life is a key life skill. What are we here for if not to enjoy this life we are given.
And there is so much to enjoy in the every day. I often have to get up at 6 am, to take Trumpet into the park, and it often feels far too early. However, once I am there, it’s a delicious time of day, the birds are singing, so often an individual black bird, or wren attracts my attention singing his/her heart out in joy of a new day. I get the time to stroll, instead of stride, and say hello to trees, and very often I take off my shoes to walk in the dewy grass, feeling tremendously grateful and content watching Trumpet find all sorts of interesting smells and pottering about. Nine of Cups at its best.
Another great pleasure we can get to enjoy every day is FOOD. I say we can, because much depends on the attention given to it. At lunch today, my goddaughter made the simplest pasta dish with slivers of courgette sauteed in butter, freshly chopped mint (I picked it from the garden), parmesan, salt and pepper, and then she squeezed a whole lemon over it. It was simply delicious and so pretty. And with a glass of delicious Pic Poule I couldn’t have felt more 9 of cups if I tried. I can still feel the pleasure of it as I write.
I’m also going to indulge myself further (9 of cups) by telling you a hi light of the day. I was rubbing Estradiol gel into my forearms and three year old Lucia said to me, what’s that for? And I said it’s for when you get old to help you feel younger and she said ‘You’re not old, you are perfect’. Seriously! Still from out of the mouths of babes….. :-)
Obviously there are many layers of meaning in the 9 of cups but I chose this one for today.
Do come and have a tarot reading with me in Battersea or online, it will make you feel happy.
