Just a three card tarot reading can tell you so much!
I did this online tarot reading for Valentine’s day. Not exactly a rosy, love is all around us, kind of Valentine’s spread as it turns out. However it had so much resonance for my client and myself that decided it had something for all of us.
Reading the cards as a sequence has a resonance to what’s been going on so far this year. The New year brought a combination of hope and hesitancy, there was no rushing into new year resolutions but rather trying to work out our feelings and what to focus on. Then by mid Jan (see Jan 14th blog) coming up with a plan, at least the foundations from which we’d like to build the year.
Pulling the Emperor, for our present situation, Feb 13th, so accurately reflects the knowledge that it is going to take some discipline to keep empowered with everything going on (Syria, turkey, Ukraine, the economy, strikes). And its not surprising, card 3, where it’s going, that there are tough decisions are ahead, on all fronts, what we give our attention to, how we follow our truth, the state of the nation, to make the right choices for us. It’s not going to be easy.
If you know me as a tarot reader, you will know I err on the side of making sure we get clarity on the best way forward in any situation. Ever someone who needs to have a positive outlook on life, if there’s a difficult situation, even a painful one, I need to be able to see the learning potential, the best way to navigate the scenario for my personal development/growth/what you will.
Two of swords territory is difficult, two swords crossed, blindfolded, trying to make a decision that is truthful for you….urged not to hang around as there’s a huge body of water behind you. Very often for clients in this situation I say it will feel like an impasse, bit of a stalemate situation, all you can do is wait for the combination of intuition, logic and truth to give you the clarity. It might take more time than you’d like which is never comfortable.
Hence keen to see what support card we might get to help us navigate ‘difficult decisions’. And we got the king of Swords! The king of decision-making in tarot. At least in anticipating difficult choices ahead it’s useful to know that mental clarity, intellectual honesty are going to be our best support.
Having to armour yourself up from feelings never sounds very cosy, but if you are using mental discipline not engage with the emotions of fear, doubt, disempowerment then all good.
We will have made the right decisions for the future.
HOW THE SPREAD WORKS
A three card spread gives us the present situation, where it came from, background, past influence, and where it is heading?
1. Present situation – The Emperor 9 – follow your passion (red) by empowering yourself (armour up against emotions) and engage will power, determination and discipline (keeping control over fear, doubt, sense of powerlessness etc)
Hold your nerve on what you want. Willpower.
2. Past influence – Three of Pentacles – you’ve made a plan (see week Jan 14th post) a good foundation from which to build…
3. Where it is heading – 2 of Swords – Difficult choices. Options to weigh up. Trying to combine both mental clarity and intuition to make a difficult choice. It may feel like a bit of an impasse.
4.Advice card. King of Swords, no one is better at making decisions. He has mental clarity, authority and intellectual power.
Ok so that’s how we make it happen (the plan) our (passion/desires)!
