Does a Tarot reading tell your future?
I say no. You create your future. A tarot reading shows your future potential. How you work with that potential is up to you.
Lots of my friends are still incredulous about the Tarot and how it works even after all these years. They know I’m a pretty sensible person but still say things like ‘so you are a fortune teller’…NO I say.
There is an argument to consider that human beings are so suggestible that if someone tells you this is going to happen, and you believe it, and even if you don’t, if it’s a good outcome you really start to think about it and wish it comes true, and if it’s a bad outcome you dread it, either way the thought is now in your mind and given that thoughts have a way of creating our lives, we just go ahead and create what the tarot reading said. Possibly.
It is why I am always conscious of the power of a reading and why I always remind clients especially when they want to know a definite outcome of a situation, typically in affairs of the heart ‘will we be together in the end’, that a tarot reading brings all sorts of information and insights about what is going on and the potential available, however you are the one who activates the reading, you have the opportunity to play with possibilities. After all we get to choose our thoughts and actions and day by day every thought and every action contributes to creating our future.
I do think when the tarot shows you your challenges it is especially valuable. When you’ve got a tricky situation to navigate it can be a surprisingly effective problem solver as clarity is always empowering. We all have challenges and potential. It’s all about how we use the information.
There are of course a multitude of random acts in life that happen that you don’t see coming and are not prepared for, and so we don’t create our future in that sense. And I am also coming to realise a powerful influence that most of us are completely unconscious of most of is our inherited history. I don’t just mean the programming from our parents but also the influence of the lives of our ancestors; the generations behind us. It’s pretty powerful stuff. So ironically we have little agency at all.
In a way we’re all living in a dream of our own making, under the spell of family influence, as well as the spell of our own expectations and perceived limitations ….
I certainly have come to believe if you hold an idea, a wish, in your mind and in your thoughts and heart with constancy and faith it is like casting a spell and the universe has a way of making it happen. So keep on dreaming.
I’d like to think Tarot helps your dreams comes true.
