Be careful not to miss an opportunity

Be careful you don’t miss an opportunity is the first thought I have when I pull the four of cups!

The card shows a cup being offered by a hand that seems to come out from a cloud…from the universe perhaps.  An offer that is out in the ether that we might miss, if we don’t stop sitting there, arms folded in dissatisfaction with the current situation.

the four of cups tarot card

The four of cups shows a man who looks as if he is going to refuse the cup that is being offered.

Very often with this card there’s a feeling of not appreciating what you already have, or not appreciating the inherent opportunity that is being offered.  A feeling perhaps of not fully committing to someone or something.  And thereby we miss the opportunity at hand.

Thinking about the last two cards I’ve pulled for this blog, Death and the Ace of Swords, it does make me wonder whether I am not paying full attention to the end of an era and the beginning of a new and setting my mind to it!  After all Death, the card of transformation and the Ace of Swords, the card of activation, are pretty dynamic!

Holding up your sword of truth and making that decision! Setting your mind and activating what needs to be done.

I know for me, the two aspects I broached with the Ace of Swords, was to be more assertive, hold up my sword of truth metaphorically speaking both in my private life and also my tarot reading life and making the decision to follow my instincts and raise my game/value myself more.

The four of cups is making me consider whether I am missing an opportunity by not fully committing to this new course of action/being?! Where might a lack of commitment lead I shall be asking myself today?  Later talking to a friend who is having a fabulous time, a real breakthrough of success has finally arrived, and well deserved, asked me how I was and I heard myself complaining life was fine but a bit same ‘ol…..and it dawned the four of cups definitely appears when we are feeling a bit lacklustre about life and starting to diss our endeavours instead of remembering its not going to be Christmas ( g forbid) every day…and transform the four of cups into perhaps the four of pentacles, a time of consolidation, or four of wands, a place from which to thrive, or the four of swords a time to take some time out to align with your integrity and life path.

Thank you four of cups for your teaching.

Do come and have a tarot reading with me in Battersea or online.
