5. Developing your Intuition
The High Priestess, is Card no 2 in the Major Arcana, teaches us how to use our Intuition. After the Fool has advised us to be fearless on our new journey, and the Magician has told us we have all the tools. the High Priestess teaches us perhaps the most important tool we have is our Intuition.
And of course, it is for exactly this reason most people come to Tarot because we can’t tune into or can’t trust our own intuition. Especially when we are feeling stressed or tired or overwhelmed or too busy. For most of us, we might have a hunch, an idea, but what if it’s wrong? What if we make a mistake? So we don’t follow them. Our intuition. If there’s only one thing the tarot teaches us, it is slowly but surely is how to trust our intuition.
The High Priestess teaches us about duality. She has the wisdom to understand we operate in combination with our subconscious and unconscious desires as well as our conscious. A clear example of the duality of life. What is in the open and which is underneath. The Light and the Shadow. And indeed it is with a combination of both that we are able to tune into our own intuition.
Reading the tarot encourages us to use a certain creative imagination also, as we look at the cards, ideas come to us, follow them, the cards have a way of firing up our imagination and leading us to insights that feel just right. And so we learn to trust our intuition.
